CHAPTER THREE
AGE ME LIKE A VAMPIRE
June 29, 1999
Afternoon in Charm, Ohio
Caddy wakes up after 12:00 p.m., her drinking binges last
into the morning hours every day. Alone in her bedroom Caddy studies her body
with micro-eyes in front of her dark mahogany vanity. Time races at her like a wicked demon. Her

She moves the bottle back and forth listening to the sound
of the liquid splashing in the glass bottle.
“That’s the sound I like.” Caddy whispers.
She unscrews the black cap, tossing it on the vanity. She
tips the bottle to her lips, and takes a big swig; blows out and coughs loudly
from the harshness of the alcohol. She continues to drink while getting ready; she
can taste the sweet liqueur on her lips every time she licks.
An urge for a
cigarette pulsates through her veins. Quickly she lights her menthol 100 and an
ease over comes her.
“Might be getting old but-----
